Gazetted road or not, hire vehicles need to be kept out of salt water so I won't be trying to duplicate their feat. :)

I'm surprised Toyota didn't gain major exposure on the stunt, for advertising purposes!
This is the first I've ever heard of the exercise. However, I was somewhat "under the pump" in 1983, and spending a lot of time in remote areas, digging myself out of a massive hole, caused by the 1980-82 drought, recession, and 23% to 30% interest rates!
