David i'm trying to put images on a post, you know hyperlinks, the problem is only some can see it and others can't. I was wondering if you could give me any ideas on the problem, like what i maybe doing wrong.

What i am doing is copying the hyperlink and replacing the http://domain.com/image_path in the hyperlink for images and putting in the URL address from the photo in it's place then submiting the post.

Baz. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Strange, maybe it's a yahoo thing , isn't that where you are putting the pics, or privacy within the browser or firewall settings. For pics I just use the string for links..works well

Domain.com is the link i was getting when i stuffed up, when i was first trying it, once i got it sorted or so i thought it was ok. It's working but not for all, thats the puzzling part, the To Post Hyperlinks instuctions below is what i'm using.

It's obviously not you Baz, could be peoples cookie setting on their pc..yahoo can be funny like that. My general cookie blocking is very high but have allowed all for yahoo. Your pics work ok for me.

Baz, you replace "domain.com" with whatever the domain is where your pics are....like "bazpics.com.au" or "yahoo.com" and the bit after the / is the pic name

To try and work out whats going wrong, I joined yahoo and upload a photo I have used before. I wont know if it worked for me until I send it LOL. Couple of things to keep in mind if mine works:

1. I reduced the jpeg quite a bit as it was a huge file without
compressing.

2. I took the Properties from the enlarged photo not the thumbnail
(small view) in Yahoo.

I thought I would wait till this morning and check it out, sometimes I have found overnight strange things happen ;). I try to keep photos to about 70,000.

My server is TPG and all the links and photos I put in are working fine from here, ie. the group to msn one, both the photo from yahoo and earlier the animation from msn. Have a new computer here and I have every security and firewall under the sun lol. Its got me beat and I hate to give up.

It would be a problem with hotlinking to pics,

those for whom it works would already have an account at either Yahoo or MSN respectively.

I have a yahoo ac and the first one worked, I don't have MSN (and I don't want it) and the second one didn't

All these photo storage services are a PITA, either get your own site or use this one.

hmm, I just tried to give you a link, but this system tells me it does not exist, strange coz it's running in another window right now, conspiracy perhaps.

just copy and paste instead

cheers

Thats a great idea Dave for those who go on trips and have lots of photos to share, I find that msn community groups a very easy format to use and if its not locked they can be viewed without having to join. I must admit that msn has its problems at times though, but then it is free. Sea.

Baz....... what I think would be really cool is if members had a small amount of space on the forum server for say a couple of piccies. Then we don't have to go through the pain of uploading to different sites, using different software, ets, ets.

Just a small amount of space for each member would suffice, no need for text or headings or anything, just upload a piccy, and post a post explaining about it.

If you change your piccie, then the old post will simply show the new picture....... too bad.

On the Overlander forum, you simply just post anything, text, piccies...... although they have just recently had to have a purge, because of the vast increase in piccie postings, seems everyone has a digital camera now.

I'm sure that my idea would make life easier for all, now we've just got to convince the Sicker God....

Did you watch Cher the other night on ABC? I think half the forum did......... she is one wicked lady!

Guys,

This idea is not out of the question however I must work out the costs involved in this facility. Currently without pics we transfer (last month) 155GB of traffic in and out of the server. This is a massive amount and for the most part is generated by the forum. We are using a reverse traffic charge model and we have an excellent data price and it is still bloody expensive.

There are options and choices to what we can offer however it would require funding. If people are prepared to pay a service charge for this provision then I could look into the logistics.

Maybe time for a poll on this one - we have not used the poll system for a while.
