Has anyone done the Holland Track lately? Just wondering what sort of condition it is in?

We did it a while back and there was plenty of water in the wombat holes both on the main track and bypasses. It’s not a difficult track just slower if it’s a bit muddy and our large trailer slowed us up. Ask the guys on the Holland Track Facebook page as there’s always people travelling it. If you want more info on the track get the guide from Western 4 Wheel Driver magazine. It’s a top guide and tells you all sorts of good info that’s not signposted on the track that you’d otherwise miss.

Wombat holes are just a term for deep washouts/wheel ruts that can have some water in them. You have a choice of going through them or using the chicken track diversions to go around them. It’s a nice little track. Have fun!

It seems many people travel the track simply for the fun of going through the larger mud filled holes because they can.

My Aussie Trabel Guide

Yes, and those people with a passion for mud holes and making them bigger have made the Holland Track a much less pleasant experience than it was.
On my first trip in 2010 there were a few chicken tracks, last year I found chicken tracks around chicken tracks around chicken tracks.
Wildflowers should be good this year.
Cheers

Myself and 3 other vehicles did it 14-17 September. Nowhere near as much water as I expected. We went from Hyden, did the Holland Track and turned right onto Great Victoria Rd, then turned a quick left and headed to Cave Hill. Then headed to Burra Rock via the 4wd track, then home via Coolgardie. As mentioned above it’s just a bit slow going, chicken tracks around all the big holes, plenty of firewood around too. A stock Holden Colorado had no dramas, just scraped the towbar on a few of the rutted parts.
