G'day all,

I have just bought a 02 standard efi diesel Hilux, and have noticed that the thermostat gauge is sitting on halfway once the engine has been running for a while. I have owned cars that have there guauge normally sitting right down on Cold all the time. Can any one who owns a similar model tell me is this the normal spot that it sits at or should it normally sit rigt down on 'C'? Stupid question maybe but better safe then sorry.

sounds right all tojos I have driven sit 1/2 way normally it shouldnt rise from what it reaches after it has warmed up that is the main thing. Had a mate that was a Mitsubishi mechanic and he told me that a batch of magnas came out with gauges that sat over 1/2 way when normal operating temp was reached and it caused them no end of greif with peaple wanting to know why there new car was overheating

As above, winter or summer gets to half way and there she stays despite heavy loads and long hills.

If temp starts to move above half way it is usually a sign that something needs attention (i.e. viscous coupling in the fan etc).

Cheers
