In a recent magazine article I read of a free
campsite named “Between The Hills” off the Plenty Hwy just west of Jervois NT. Unfortunately I’ve lost the article and looking for details incl a position of this
campsite and hoping someone can help me. Cheers Andrew

Thanks Gerard S, looked everywhere but Wiki. Appreciate your prompt reply. Will need to
camp elsewhere by the looks when we emerge from the
Hay River track in June. Thanks & cheers Andrew

We were thru there late Sept but didnt take any notice of it, so can't confirm if its still open or not. Not sure that recognised campsites have many advantages in that area...you'll find other spots!

There's a
microwave tower near that location where people also obviously
camp. It was open last September. Bit exposed. But plenty of other areas along there still.
Cheers,
John

Thanks
John & Gerard, appreciate the replies and advice. I'll be in a group of x7 vehicles so need a largish site....not often afforded in many of the free campsites. Cheers Andrew

We camped at
the spot in question on our 2017 crossing (indeed, one of the comments shown on the WikiCamps post is
mine!) and thought it was nice. This year however we found it fenced off. Instead we camped a bit further to the West at a rather nice gravel scrape.

There would be room for a large group there.

We stayed a few hundred metres west of the road into
Jervois Station on the other side of the road. (rained in actually) Plenty of room and no traffic. Even a small shelter of sorts if I remember rightly

When we cross the Plenty Hwy we often
camp on the east side of the
Plenty River, on the north side of the road, about a kilometre off the road itself.
For a big group the south side might be more comfortable but you could a couple of vehicles to scout around when you get there.
Last time we checked that spot at the hills there were some nice
places in there. I didn't notice a fence at all then but I think that was over 12 months ago we were there.
Have fun.
Steve
