G'day, I am overseas at present or I would ring Tobermorey direct and they don't have an email address, but on their web site it states they are "Closed Permanently". Does any one know if that is correct or not? TIA.

.
I don't think they are "Closed Permanently" John.
I have just brought up their website and find no mention of closure.

If it were not so late in the evening I would phone them and ask.
Maybe tomorrow.
Cheers

Allan, my mistake, it was not their website, was the Google page that said "Closed Permanently", should have read further, thanks for your reply.

A lot of Google information like that is "crowd sourced" (ie they get us to do their work for them for free). It isn't too hard to get something marked as closed - but by the same token you can also get it changed back. When you look at it on Google Maps there is usually a "suggest an edit" button - click that then tell Google they are open!

We overnighted there in July last year on the way to Ayres Rock, I'd be surprised to hear that's the case, even though a Google page says so. Thier Facebook page had a post in mid November mentioning reduced shop and caravan hours over Summer, but nothing about it closing in any later posts.

If you click on the link Tobermorey in the OP it takes you to their entry in "Places." Under the heading "Description" it says:

"Information
"Tobermorey Station has recently reopened to campers (as at May 2012). There is grassy, shaded camp sites with amenties (hot showers & flushing toilets)."

Maybe the link you were reading was an old one that was archived prior May 2012 and the place has reopened.

We made a booking with them for July by phone yesterday. They've been away for a week or so, it seems.

They are 'open' but were away on holidays to the coast for a week or three , just remember that the 'shop' has minimal supplies and use of 'toilets' if just passing through invokes a $5 donation to the RFDS , however , that donation is 'waived' if you purchase any item from the 'shop' before using the 'ammenities' ....
