after talking with the local arb dealer, he informed me that my gq with 120 k's, would no longer be an l.s.d, rather an open centre. whats the story with that? i thought he might have just been trying to sell me his airlockers.

probably owned anything but a nissan - I Have a GQ with 171000 ks and the LSD is equal to friends new GU and I run Muddies so if anything tests the torque of a lsd its a grippy tyre. - I also run Penrite Limslip140 (NOT 85-140)in the diff and it is simply amazing best its ever worked - Nissans have the best LSDs on the market but I know they occsasionally need re shimming but have no useful info on how many ks - depends on how you look after it and use the right lubes. Try the penrite.

thanks kezza. I haven't tested it yet properly, but from what 've felt and heard whilst off road, i would have thought it did work. the vehicle has always been log book serviced by nissan dealers and i see no reason why the recomended lube wouldn't be good enough. I have been told previously how good the nissan lsd is, and that was the first time i have heard anything bad about them. i would like to hear if anyone has had trouble with them. thanks... andrew......

Andrew, i own an 92 model GQ with 330k on the clock and run 32 x 11.5 r 15 BFG muds & my LSD is still just as tight as it was the day it was made, i think the bloke at the shop was trying to get you to shell out the dollars so he can meet his monthly quoter and get his half yearly bonus, i to use Penrite Limslip 140, the GQ's are renowned for having the best LSD's on the market, cheers, Dave.

Andrew my time around four wheel drives and Ihave had most brands Nissan make one of the best L,S,D s around they just last and last the dealer must of been on the sales pitch or has had toyota L,S,D,s that dont last at all very well . even if you have the toyota clutch packs replaced and shim up the diff nice and snug again they still dont last . this only means that if the L,S,D is worn the diff just works as a normal diff . The bottom line is a air locker wold still be nice. But only if your real big into four wheel driving then you would look at one for the front diff.

Andrew,
Most likely a sales pitch....
If you were to add an ARB air locker, add it to the front and keep the rear LSD.

Thanks for the responses, the only reason i thought it may not have been a sales pitch, is because i said to him i was interested in an airlocker for the front(in a year or two), and he tried to talk me out of it and put it in the rear. When i told him how renound the lsd is, in the gq, he spun some crap that bagged it. .....Typical cruiser driver.... doesn't know how good the patrols really are!!! Andrew......

My 1995 GQ has done 250,000 kms and still goes places that cruisers without lockers fear to tread.
