Here in SA Truckster, CJ had one of the highest prices - Optus had the lowest but they won't supply when it comes to the crunch (is that a cheap trick of what ?).... their price of $365 outright for the unit plus $20 for the accessory kit (case, 12 V charger and H free) is worthless. GMA in
Brisbane want $499 !!! Telstra in
Adelaide want $420.
The car kit is hundreds.........IMO, the phone is worth about $100 in reality (if that -look to Super Cheap Auto's to see what technology can really be sold for these days)...
....higher pricing is the phone retailers' way of saying "we don't want you to buy it outright". Someone on this
forum got one for nix on a $50 plan ("Oi rests me case").
To hell with the lot of them.......I'll get a box of pidgeons.

You are very being very generous with the $100 Banjo. There's no special technology is a damn mobile ph, they turn em out by the millions, sell em all around the world and keep adding pathetic features to sell new models....they should be as cheap as chips but they choose to rip us off.

Banjo...Your pidgeons comment brought much mirth to this family.
I bought a Kyocera 3035 from Telstra two years ago for $670 outright. It is datacable enabled(though I don't have one) and it came with 240 and 12 volt chargers and a leather case. It works OK ans I haven't any problems with it or drops outs as stated in another thread.
But I agree, mobile phones should be dirt cheap. We are just suckers.

If yyou want CDMA, go
Orange. They are selling 2 Kyoceras for around $400, with no contract. Don;t know if they are the model you want though, sorry.
Why
Orange,
well in
Orange areas, they charge next to nothing. Like 30c-10m to any landline any time. And when not in
Orange areas, they just use Telstra network and you pay no more than stnd Telstra rates. TOPS! Probably doesn't help if you're never in an
Orange area, but the phones are cheap.

Have to agree with you trucky re
Orange network around here. Also I think you will find that when
Orange switches you to the telstra network you pay the telstra rate PLUS a toll

I have never paid anymore when switching to telstra. The conditions say prices may vary when switching but in reality they never have. You miss out on the special free calls though. I've been outta plan for sometime now, only get charged for the time used at the pittance they signed me up on..no mininum spend or any crap....laughing

A lot of funny stories floating around re deals with CDMA. Hmmmm. Strange, that when I went to CDMA, I was encouraged to buy the phone outright, which we did. That was 18 months ago. just went on a $30 plan for when I am around
home and increase it to a higher plan when I go away and rely soley on the CDMA. when I get back just switch it back to the 30 buck job. Suits me

Why would you switch when you went away? Just interested thats all? Is CDMA a bigger cost on a call?

When I'm at
home I dont use the mobile as much and usually run up $30 so get those calls on the plan (calls cost 45c per 30 sec) When I'm away I use the mobile exclusively, so up the plan to $60, get 60 bucks worth of calls and more calls as they only cost 26c per 30 sec. I hope that is clear to you as reading it again sounds muddy. but it works
