A follow up on the Coleman unit.

the Agent says:

It is fully self contained. Has own battery supply (6 a/hr 12 volt). Own gas cannister with a 1 pound cannister (yep 1 pound he said) coming soon. Will produce 160 litres hot water before re-charge needed. Or around 40 - 45 minutes. Can be recharged from either 240 or 12 volts.

No wasted water getting it up to speed (An issue with the Primus Unit).

Computer controlled hot water delivery (he didnt say if it came with a keyboard and monitor, one can only assume both would be somewhat tiny!!. In some camp areas the mice are already present, so that won't be a problem!!)

Shower, $20 is extra. Carry bag is $70. Gas cannister $7. Unit itself is a whopping $399 RRP.

So all up the agent says around $500 for the full kit.

Can be run from conventional gas bottle with appropriate hosing etc.

Available from all good camping stores July onwards they hope.

While it sounds like a good unit, it sure is more expensive than a whistling kettle, a 10 litre water can and a $30 shower unit.

Still, if you like toys ........... and are a softie to boot

Magnus.. I to saw them at the Bris. show and thought they were very good, however at $500 I prefer a Glind under the bonnet. No box to cart around and while I admit you do have to start the motor to have a shower much more practical and cheaper in the long run. I reckon you would run out of gas before petrol.

Hillbilly just updated the water heater, the funnel is now internal, it's now galvanised and the price is a whopping $60
