Well bought one today, and a car kit from Telstra in Dande..

They did a good deal, and stayin on the plan I was already on.

The car kit doesnt come with an ariel, so thats a purchase for tomorrow :)~

Looks smaller than I hoped (hate pi$$fart sized phones), but nice and clear screen, and works better than my old Phone!

I got a Kyocera 2235 today. Seems to work well except that you cannot have it on ring and vibrate at the same time, only vibrate then ring. Results in 5 secs of vibrate then 2 secs of ring. Not enough time to answer if say sitting at a desk. If have on ring only, cannot hear when in the factory (too noisy to hear ring). So, have to change between ring and (vibrate then ring) - what a pain compared to my old Nokia which simply had ring and vibrtae at the same time. Apart from this, seems fine. Still reading the manual to find a way around this, but no luck so far.

Cheers

Howdy Captain.
Ive had my 2235 for about 18 months now. Haven't had a drama with it .I couldn't work out how to ring and vibrate at the same time . so just got it turned up full belt.

Hi Cokeaddict,

I previously had a Nokia 5330 (or similair) and have only just changed to the Kyocera 2235.

Physically, compared to the Nokia, it is slightly larger (not a problem) but has an antenna protrusion that can catch on things. Its probably larger than the current crop of mini sized phones, but I reckon some are too small to use these days.

The Nokia has less buttons that, once used to, makes it easier to operate IMHO. In comparison the Kyocera has a 4-way button plus 4 function buttons. This means you are pressing different buttons to get to different things, not better or worse, just different. The Kyocera has a better contacts system in that you can have multiple numbers (home, mobile, work, fax, email) for the same contact. The Nokia requires a separate entry for each number. I am in the process of having the car kit fitted, then I can use the voice features (voice dialling, voice answer etc) - should be neat, but yet to use. Also has email and WAP facilities, but I do not use these. Down side is that you cannot have call waiting, 2nd call goes straight to voicemail (is that a CDMA feature or phone limitation or have I yet to work it properly?)

Overall, its a nice phone but nothing super special. Very functional and not too gadgety (no camera, FM radio, colour screen etc). I would go for the 3325 as it has a builtin loudspeaker function, something i would find very handy for work conference calls, but you may not require this.

Cheers

Captain

Look for an RFI 1795 attena they work great with the 3245 and the phone bloody talks to you as well great little number, might be small but as i said you just have to tell it to dial someone and it does it for you.

I'm so glad you're happy with your new phone. It's always soooo exciting when you get something new and can't wait to tell everyone about it. I'm really looking forward to updating my phone when I'm out of contract. Do you think I should get a Kyocera too? I'm impressed that you think it's nice and clear. I think that's always important in a phone - I really hate those phones that aren't nice. Good luck with your new toy! Oh by the way an Ariel is a motorbike from a long way back - you'd better buy an aerial!! LOL
