It is some years...
The road from the highway was straight, wide and graded but had not seen any maintenance for quite a while, so quite rough and slow.
Once out at the lake they are strictly random tracks.

I visited there late in May 2018. I don't remember much in particular about the track from the Eyre Highway. Which means it couldn't have been very bad. :) Indeed these photos I took show a fairly nice road.

At least up to the point where you see my van parked (last pic). From there, you can drive farther and as I recall that was more sandy. I recall driving through the trees closer to the lake, and it was a bit overgrown. There were some people camped in the trees. But I drove back out a ways on the access road and camped for the night.

We were there last year. The road in was great. After that random tracks in varying condition, all unmaintained. Go in there, explore and find your preferred spot. It's not hard to find a place all on your own. It's a nice camp.
