Im wondering if anyone has been out this way recently and whether it's still green after the rains.
Been planning a trip out there for some time but have been thwarted by the weather previously.
Thanks

We were around the area about a month ago and the country was looking great. We went through the lakes from Boulia and ended up at Jundah. The rains and flooding was patchy so it varys.
A great part of Australia and worth a visit - particularly to support the small towns.

Cheers Geoff

Hi Workhorse,

I have just come through Windorah, Birdsville and Boulia and it is still green in the channels, knee high in some places, but brown on the higher ground. Lots of water in both the Cooper and Diamantina as well as various depressions and creeks.

Just got home today from a trip from the sunny coast to maralinga via the rock. Went via the plenty and returned via the sandover. Central QLD is all passable again with patches of greenery and lots of tall dead grass where it has dried out again. Perfect for large flocks of budgies which are amazing to see.

We traveled through the Channel country on our way to the Big Red Bash earlier this month.
Camped by waterholes on the Cooper, at Nockundra, Old Cork and in the Diamantina NP, and all had plenty of water and bird life. The roads/tracks were in good condition, and at that time (now 3 to 4 weeks ago) there was still some spectacular greenery.
Enjoy
