Apply for SA Desert Parks Pass for Innamincka region, incl Coongie Lakes, Cullyamurra w/hole. $98 for 1 yr or $16 per person per nite.

Fishing/yabby/shrimp gear. Yellowbelly and grunter still biting in C'murra.

Road from Fort Grey to Cam Cnr and beyond is quite corrrugggattted.

Merty Merty is pretty short on firewood at campsite. No firewood to be collected at Cullyamurra w/h.

Interesting track from Milparinka to Cam Cnr via Theldarpa and onwards; fully signposted and no traffic. Through properties and some small sand dunes, no need for 4WD if track open (after rain).

Here's one you may not have thought of. We always take some alum (aluminium sulphate). It is terrific to settle the colloidal clay from the river water you use from the Cooper for showering. Make an alum solution and sprinkle a couple of tea spoons on top of a bucket of creek water, allow to settle and then use the clear water for washing or showering.

We'll be following the same route in four weeks.

Best place would be a pool shop. It's also used for cleaning dirty pools.

Just remember NOT to drink the water. Research indicates it's use in the past has significantly contributed to aluminium ingestion .... Alzeheimers. No where was I again??

I've heard that a few ashes from last night's fire will do the same thing - a sort of survival tip 'thingy' - not sure where i read it, possibly in one of Len Beadell's books.

Brad.

I hear that if you drink the clay water, then in a few days you can produce nice porcelain clay vases. Just get a stick and make a hole in the top of it.

Brad...whats your point...first you say possibly then you say definitely...I wasn't replying to your post anyway it just happened to be in the thread below yours. You are only going to get sick if you drink contaminated water. Most water in Aus is potable. As to washing and showering can't see the point .. hence the comment.

Gday
Have you remembered the yabby trap? Got some lovely crawchies out of the Cooper at the town common. Also some sonic lures for those Yellow belly fish.
If you are doing the dig tree, i suggest you do the round trip, as the back road is marvelous.

Crawchies? Is that another name for yabbies? Did you catch them with an opera house trap?
Do you know if the water is flowing over the causeway at the moment?
Great country up there -going ourselves soon. What's the firewood situation like??

Hi JJ
Yes we used an opera house trap and i think you are right, they were fresh water cray, so i should not have called them crawchies.
As for the other questions, i cant say, as it has been 2 years this easter gone since we were there last :-(
Best thing is that the main Innamincka store can supply all these things that i mentioned at a competitive price to NSW.

For the "just in case" get a list of UHF Channels of Cameron Corner (#11) and other stations & SES along the way.
You could start with SES in Tibooburra.

John
just crusin & smelling the flowers

1. At Halls Creek (Is he really lost?)
2. East of Cameron Cnr

Just keep in mind that the fact that the roads are open now in no eway means they'll be open when you get there. It takes just a few hours of rain to close them and you just have to wait where you are. We were stuck in Tibooburra and friends were stuck on the roadside near Moomba. If it's dry you could drive a Commodore up there but if it rasins you can't drive anything! Just carry enough food for a few days camped by the road in case. Plenty of food and fuel and services available at Tibooburra, Cameron Corner, Innamincka and Birdsville so it's really not a very diffficult trip.
