Great work Garry and Judy.

Ash won't be with us for this one as she has an Annual Cadet camp over that period.

We will however have Jan tagging along with us as per Kilcowera gathering. She is slightly excited to see the rock dam wall in person as she painted it as a prize for the Kilcowera gathering.

Cheers Kev

Great spot,
I've been to speed week many times & have planned to go again in March 2020 for the 30th Speed week, If you do drive on the Lake you have to De-dust before you go on & De-salt when you get off & on the lake if you park it should be on a tarp so you do not contaminate the lake

Hi Vince, firstly my condolences for your mate, and hope you are also travelling well. I have been informed that driving on the lake will not be possible due to National Parks rules. Now I know why, as the station would also not want salt dropped all over their property. Driving to, and walking on the lake is permitted. I have seen many youtube clips of the racing, and noticed the tarps on the ground whilst final preps are done before the trial run. It looks like a great event to volunteer your services, as they state, they are always looking for help to run the event, and you can nominate for what job may interest you that they list.

Thanks, Mt Ive Station is normally well stocked & will be a great base, as I go with a team, have not had the time to give the area a good look about & as I normally tow the weapon & have six of the team on board, it restricts me a bit but if I can I will be there in Sept/Oct if you get the chance to go to speed week it is well worth it, anything that has wheels is there trying to break a record & a great bunch, A lot think that its full of yobbo’s & rev heads but it’s not & nearly everybody helps everybody
The corrugations in & out normally sorts out the unprepared

tarps take a battery drill and some coach screws to hold your tarp down under your engine and gearbox, the salt is really hard to bang tent pegs in,it also gets windy and blows your tarp around, bye now

Hi Barry, driving on the salt lake is not allowed, and camping at the edge of the salt lake is also a not permitted, as it is a National Park. Camping etc is near the Station's out buildings. I do note the map states that there is a campsite near the lakes edge, but is closed. This may be a different scenario at the time of Speedweeek Trials though, as I know very little of the the event apart from attempting land speed records.

i should have explained a little better, was not refering to camping on the salt but when you go down to the pits area on the salt and park there and stop(this is where you need the tarp},, to look at the vehicles, when i was there for the 25 th anniversary you could drive on the salt to do this, but it to be before 9 am you could also drive to the starting line for viewing, at the time there was a campsite not far from the bar, with toilets etc, this was not on the lake, cannot remember the name of the campsite, hope this clears up what i said earlier bye now

Further information will be posted at a later date but please do not hesitate in emailing me on garryshanerussell@gmail.com. This current reponse is from my son in laws computer, not mine, as I am grandpa daycare today cheers garryr

Looks a great place for the gathering.

We will be there for a few days, just got to fit in around work.

Might have to leave the twins at home though.

Cheers

WHAT.... you are abandoning the twins and leaving them home. I shall be driving through Adelaide and have the room to pick them up. A couple of ocky straps and strap them to the roof rack will be ok. I am sure they will tell me where to go after that. Time off.... Just tell the boss your on stress leave and you need a couple of extra days to regather your mental health. I"m sure that will work.
