I have a book, "GPS Vehicle Navigation in Australia" by Robert Pepper, published by Boiling Billy Publications which gives a good basic explanation of how GPS works.
As the title suggests, it is mostly about navigation. Pepper uses OziExplorer for the book, so for those looking for Ozi tips it is useful.

My SatNav sits beside me most of the time ,and I've never worked it out !!…...lol.
