Hi Barry
If it’s working fine, then NO
The 40 channels are quite legal, plus they perform better that the 80 channel
Cheers
Stephen

To be exact Stephen, they perform better than an 80 channel when receiving a transmission from another 40 channel unit. But not when receiving from another 80 channel unit. They may be a bit quiet in that case.
Apart from that, there is no downside if the unit can be upgraded, and GME still does it for free.

If you regularly listen to the radio, you should update to 80 channels, which will give you more choices to listen to. Just as you can hear more new things.
