The
Coolgardie-
Esperance Hwy was re-opened under tight control on a restricted permit basis, on Tuesday, to allow trapped trucks and travellers to get out of
Coolgardie to the South, to
Norseman and
Esperance.
This temporary opening was done to mainly allow
Norseman residents to return
home, and to allow resupply to
Norseman.
These are the current travel conditions for the
Coolgardie-
Esperance Hwy;
"Permits will only be issued to people who can demonstrate they are travelling north to Kalgoorlie/
Coolgardie or beyond, south to
Esperance and beyond and for those who have a legitimate reason such as resupply or a residence in
Norseman.
Restricted access permits can be obtained daily in
Norseman (55 Prinsep Street), Salmon Gums Vehicle Control Point and Goldfields Highway intersection Vehicle Control Point along
Coolgardie-
Esperance Highway.
Permits issued only during hours of 7am and 6pm.
Travel permitted from the hours of 5am to 7pm.
Drivers must be able to provide proof of residence or destination arrangements in these locations for Permit approval."

The W.A. Southern Goldfields, including
Norseman has now received some rain (
Norseman got 9mm) as a result of moisture spin-off from ex-Cyclone Blake.
This is expected to help dampen down the fires East of
Norseman - but as of 12:28 AM WST this afternoon, the fire at Balladonia is still uncontained, and still impacting the Eyre Hwy, and the Highway will not be re-opened until this fire is contained, and highway travel is safe.

In other good news, the Great Central Rd is now open, after having been previously closed due to flooding.
Cheers, Ron.
