Got in the car, and with foot on the brake, the usual green LED on the Start button was not there.

So with foot OFF the brake pedal, pressed the Start button once for Acc position and then held it down for about 12-13 seconds.

Hey presto, the mighty V8 roars into life.

Check all the light bulbs in the brake circuit are working.

The stop light circuit is quite complex, first off replace the fuse as they can have hair line fractures and the break might not be obvious.

Power from the fuse goes to a connector possibly in the fuse box, it then goes to the brake light switch and the stop light relay assembly. The power comes in to the switch on the blue wire which is the one I assume your applying power to, then via the switch when the pedal is pressed and out on the red wire to the stop light relay. There is other wiring involved but see how go the above.

So hopefully you get it sorted out and running.

So now I have to ask does this mean if a fuse or relay on the brake system fails you can be left standard in a new vehicle ?

Don’t you just love how the manufacturers have complicated things. I can’t see why what should be simple lights wiring needs to be so involved with other stuff!

9 times out of 10 you will find wiring has been damaged on the trailer plug, If you have a brake controller in the vehicle, unplug it and try a new fuse, if it doesnt blow, you have a controller issue.

My year 2004 100 series was non starting randomly. Traced to isolator part of the anti theft stuff. Bypassed to get car back working before replacement of isolator. Just a thought.9
