I have 120ah Slim in the back my Mazda CX5 for just on 12 months.
I have it hooked up through a 25a Projecta dc-dc charger,
it runs a 47 ltr Arb Fridge probably 15 hours a week, (3 days for 5 hours)
also my 12v charger for my portable oxygen machine which runs for about the same time.
So far so good.
Cheers.

Thanks mate, that’s very helpful. I already have an acid filled deep cycle under the bonnet and want to put this inside my old troopy to run another fridge. I’m thinking of a 170 amp hour coupled with my existing battery I should have ample power.
Thanks again

Going by the weight I,d say the advertising is bullshit...145 kg for 170 amp....fullriver 150 amp is 43kg

How do they get 20amp out of 2kg of lead?

Bigfish, I think you have misread the specs for the slimline - I read it as 45Kgs for 170ah, which would be about correct I think.
I have a Vision battery (CT-180X) 180ah (rating at 10hr rate) slimline and its specs are 53Kgs in weight..
So their specs are probably Ok as they have rated it 170ah at 20hr rate - not a 10hr rate as most do.

Most quality battery manufacturers rate their batteries at both 10 and 20...mostly 20hours. Your Vision battery at 53 kgs is what I,d expect for a quality battery around the 180 amp mark. The Kickass weight is the same weight as the Full river 150 amp....except theirs is rated 20 amp higher

Fullriver is rated 150 at 20hours...As I said , and I,ve mentioned it on here before, there is a lot of false advertising for batteries to get people to spend their money.

As long as you get good service out of the battery, and the price is right, a slight over exaggeration of specs isn't going to worry too many people.
If you compare the price of the kick ass and the fullriver, how does the difference seem ?

Bigfish, look again at what you typed in your first response... "145kg" should that perhaps be 45kg?
Cheers

Hi Bigfish,
thats what i was trying to refer to in your original post - the 145kg bit, but I explained myself poorly :-(
And now Ive just re-looked at the spec sheet for my battery and to make it worse its 58kgs, not 53kg - I think I need new reading glasses.. that weight explains why it kills my back when I have to move it..
Vision dont do a 20hr rating, only 10, 5, and 1hr.

Bryan

Say thank you Bigfish.
And yes, you do need a proof reader.....
It is not "I,d" and "I,ve" with a comma. It is I'd and I've with an apostrophe.

I bought an amptech 105ah, a giant 105ah around 5yrs ago around both weighed around 27 - 28 kg each battery. I checked and now the giant 120ah weighs around the same does that mean the tech is getting better or we are not getting what we pay for and it's ok to be ripped of so others can line their pockets.

Tech is not getting better. Lead is the main factor for amperage output. More lead...more amps. Simple as that. Some casings and internals may be slightly lighter..but only slightly. Bullshit advertising is the main ingredient in the cheaper brands. All of the good quality batteries have not got any lighter!!

Allan is far more edificated than me. The words in his dikshunry us same as mine.
We all make mistakes, but what appears on here quite often I got the strap for in primary school until I got it correct. Clarified the mind it did. Now in school everyone is successful, non achievers and brilliant minds too.
For a long time I wondered why Americans wanted to Kick their Donkeys!
