Hi, did that road last November. 3 feul stops ulp, rabbit flat shut some days. Long way to drive in one day . Nice country from Halls to boarder, rest not flash. Must do is Wolf Creek crater 2nd largest in world. WA section is rough but ok. NT side must be maintained by the gold mines, really good. We camped for the night along there and about 5 had light rain ,then a fully loaded road train come thru at 6,only thing that day and night, you wouldn't believe the damage done , the ruts where 3 foot deep!!!! PS we towed an off road camper no real problem but do they whip around on the ruts. You'd wanna tie thigs down
well in a van.

do yourself a favour and take your time. there is stuff to see and if you don't you always be wondering just what it was you missed. if the road is in good condition then yes the 16hrs sounds feasible. rgds

Just did it last Sunday week ago . Road,s in fairl,y good condition , althrough , it did have it,s moments . Fuel at Tilmouth
well , Rabit Flat ($1.65) . That,s a must stop through , (she,s been there 36 year,s ! she told us ). Not many
places to
camp after there . I wouldn,t try to do it in one day towing a van (or without one eather) . Wolf creek is defanatly worth a stop . Cheers

Brian,
We leave Alice at 8 30am,
bush camp just short of Rabbit Flat and that gets us to
Halls creek in good time the following day. There is plenty to see and stop to lok at on the way.

we went across there last june/july if you took your time you could have taken a 2wd we carried a lot of weight in the dual cab and we drove at 100km. The drive was not very exciting till you get closer to hallscreek/wolfcreek crater. I would only do the trip again to short cut.
