Question is blatantly intrusive ,but , how many of all you good people who use this
forum , are planning to go to the
birdsville races this year,,, Axel + Karen....

G'day axel & Karen, I will only just be back from a trip up around the top end at that time , but if I can get permission from the treasurer I will be heading out there for a day or two [from SE Qld]. DennisN

I wont know if i'm going ,but i'd love to know the date of it. Also when do most people get there and leave after the race?

The date is published on other areas of this site. Look at the Hot Topics menu and you will see a submenu called
Birdsville Races and a link to the
Birdsville Race Club website.One year, David and I worked and lived in
Birdsville for 2-3mths around Races. What we observed was that people start to arrive 1 week before and are all gone by one week after. The majority of people arrive on the Thursday or Friday. Races are always the 1st weekend of September.

Are we planning to go to the
Birdsville races this year on the first weekend in September and
camp along the mighty Diamantina river and go to Brophy's boxing and visit Johnie
Menzies at the museum and go to the dance Fri and Sat night and the auction on Sat night and cheer the planes landing in the wind from the pub and, oh yes go to the races on the Fri and Sat and knowing that a part of driving up there is that you never quite know if you are going to get there or not ......are the beatles two short?

My partner and 3 other veichles will be leaveing
Newcastle on the 2nd Sep to arrive on thursday.
