Truck friendly facebook site has lots of hints and tips

Yes I've been saying that for years, nice to include new road rules but in NSW, we only get a few glossy colour brochures on how to buy personalised number plates for up to $500 a year.

Personalized plates are only for those with a PID. Personality Identity Disorder and as said, makes plenty cash for RTA.

Wouldn't it be nice if the authorities had a heavy vehicle handbook like they do with the road rules for learners?

I just got my HR licence and asked about such a thing so I could read up for the theory test bit.

Qld Transports advice: Do the online practice test a couple of times and learn the answers to the practice questions, you'll be right then for the knowledge test.

Trial, error and best guess.... I didn't use that approach for the practical component.

The info should go much further than to fb acolytes.

I presume the green markers are put there by state authorities.

Then the info about them should be broadcast by the driver licencing system in each state, each of which hold contact details for licence holders. Ie, it should go to the general motoring public, many of whom are not on fb.

I'm not on fb. I had no knowledge of this until it was drawn to my attention by this thread on ExplorOz, not by any disappearing thread on facebook. (Even though I'm not on fb I know they disappear because I hear Mrs P's daily frustration as she tries to find something she may have seen.)

Road safety info and regulatory changes should be broadcast directly by the regulator to licence holders' recorded personal addresses, electronic or paper, whatever, not via the incorrect presumption that all people are following a popular songster on one of many social media channels.

3 then 2 then 1 every 2nd post apart gives just on 1km notice that a safe 'pull-up' area is coming up , No sharp drop-off or table drain ....?

In Melbourne, blue markers on the road or on guide posts indicate a fire hydrant or fire plug.

A simple sign at the spot would be handy, ... Trucks or caravans you cant have both together!

Now you are saying they are for truckdrivers to know where to pull off the road. Can't have it both ways. It is either one or the other.

Pretty silly to have a sign at the spot as if you are travelling at almost any speed you can't suddenly retard the rig, caravan or truck, to be able to pull in there, prior warning is therefore far more sensible.

A good idea but I think most official pull off sites do have signs 1 kilometre out.
The 3 stage indicators would be better and produce less visual pollution too.
