Named one of the 10 best spots for a Tree change in the Australian last weekend no less. You'll see house prices shoot up now mate lol

Hi Candace, it certainly can snow in Clare. Just Google "clare sa snow" for a whole series of events.

I really don't know why Stephen persists in living there. I have extended invitations to him to come to the Queensland Sunshine Coast where it is "Camelot" weather all year round. But he is made of stern stuff. Just wants to be close to the wine source I guess.

Back in the good old days we’d have fires at our camps on the beach at Fraser to keep us warm, National Parks even supplied it for free....shame the clueless spoilt that for everyone else. One upside these days to the no fires is your feet don’t become filthy instantly from all the ash that used to be mixed into the sand, your feet ended up dirty within seconds of being at camp, doesn’t happen now though.

Same here Allan. As we live in Victoria, we are “banned” from all other states at the moment due to the stupidity of a few inconsiderate people. Had planned to do the Simpson last April, but of course, this did not happen. Hoping to get out to the Simpson in August, but this is not looking like it will happen for us either.

Hmmmm .... that probably explains the "No fires" edict. Can't have the inmates .... err sorry .... backpackers burning the place down.

No Gramps, I saw none where we went, other than pre-existing ones around some campgrounds.
Back home now so can't look for you.

We will be on Fraser from 18 to 31 July. Will take some pictures and report for you.
Last year about this time there were Dingo fences and electrified grids around all the villages and camping areas.
We stay at Happy Valley and when driving out one morning there were 4 dingoes standing near the electric grids and guess what, backpackers feeding them.
Then over fishing on the west side at Wolli Creek a few days later this cheeky dingo came up to my bait bucket for a free feed.
The dingoes have been there for over 45 years that I can remember together with the brumby's who are long gone. Wish Fraser was now like it was back then. Progress and easy access has certainly changed the place, together with peoples attitude.
Anyway us Qlder's are lucky that we can roam and enjoy our state in a beautiful climate. Off to Cape Melville in September is the area is opened.

"It is estimated that some 40% of visitors to Fraser Island are international visitors with the majority of the remainder being intrastate visitors from elsewhere in south-east Queensland.

The Direct Financial Value of tourism and recreation on Fraser Island was found to be $116.7 million. Additional Financial Value generated within the Fraser and Sunshine Coast regions in the process of visiting the Island is estimated to be $39.3 million.

Regional multiplier effects have been calculated in the order of $109.22 million, creating a Total Direct and Indirect Financial Value from tourism and recreation on Fraser Island of $265.25 million

Up to 2,880 jobs are generated in the Fraser Coast and Sunshine Coast regions from tourism and recreation on Fraser Island."
