Hullo again everyone on Forum!
Have utilised this site a few times - great stuff!

We are just about ready to head north from Hindmarsh Island and eventually end
up on the Gibb River Road (just a small drive (-:) - questions:-

1) Has anybody here done it recently? (we are going East to West) - if so what is the condition of the road -esp water crossings?/punctures etc.
2) We are towing a Jayco 13 with a 4WD twincab ute - am still spooked about doing this - anyone towed a non-off road trailer along GRR?
3) Have purchased the Kimberly - An adventurers guide - looks good!
As always advice is well appreciated!

Cheers
vjr (looking forward to hitting the road for 14 weeks!!!)

Best advice: take it easy, enjoy the Kimberly and watch out for idiots in rentals.
It's Gods own country.

Not a good idea to tow a jaco caravan along the GRR.
You may be lucky and come throught with just a few loose bolts and rivets, however the GRR can be very rough and corrugated with very stony sections.
It will all depend if the grader has been through.
The Kimberly has had some late rains but I don't think the river crossings will be a problem by the time you get there.
The GRR is always unpredictable and conditions could change from one week to the next.
Suggest you phone Drysdale River Staion when the time is nearer.
I believe Drysdale RS also have a webb site that may provide more info.
Cheers

We are planning to leave Alice Springs in 3 weeks, along the Tanami road to Halls Creek, up to Kunanurra, Wyndam along the GRR to Broome. Towing a Jayco HC Finch with Prado. Will be interested to read the feedback.

Cheers.
