Free Camping East Road Louth to Wilcannia

Hello All,
Can anyone help with free camping suggestions along the east road from Louth to Wilcannia. The NP Coach and Horses Campground appears too busy. There are numerable tracks off to the Darling but I'm unsure if its private property or not. Currently every road is closed but we plan to go when things dry out. We are travelling in a capable 4WD with 6X4 Trailer.

Any suggestions from the tried and true would be appreciated

Cheers

As you suggested most of that riverfront land is private property and has been for many years. The usual spots like Trilby, Dunlop and Kallara are not that expensive and well worth a visit.

There are also some NPWS spots in Gundabooka; both near the River at Old Yanda and away near the Ranges at Dry Tank.

Thanks Mike,
The western side properties are well covered in the trip it was coming down (south) East Tilpa Rd to Wilcannia and avoiding Warrawong VP and Coaches and Horses Campground if we can.

Cheers

Hi Michael M34

The Paroo Darling camp ground is quite good camped there a while ago thats if its open . The road from there to Wilcanna can get pretty wet due to the mudflats but doable once it drys out a bit.

Cheers Ed

When are you going? It's pretty soggy out there at present. Many of the roads around the Darling are closed. If you get a good shower or rain out there whilst you are travelling you could be stuck there for a few days or a week or two depending upon the precipitation. The following map was taken from

Thanks Peter,
After a few chats with the locals I've put the whole show back a week. It should dry out with sun and forecasted westerlies. I'm not new to the west and beyond and the whole region closes roads very quickly backed up by fines for the 5%ers.

A set of muddies will cause untold damage for the locals who depend on them, then comes the shire costs that many cannot afford.

Cheers and thanks to all
