Hi,
I know a couple of people on this
forum, including owners David & Michelle, have fitted Teyes Spro head units. I am interested in any
feedback now that they have had them for a while. I am particularly interested in how Bluetooth audio is performing.
Thanks, Kevin

I'll be watching this, at $250.00 or there abouts it is reasonably cheap considering a map update for my Clarion is going to cost me about $150.00 and still be 12 months old.

I am driving daily with ours and love it. It continues to be robust and far superior to all our other devices. It does everything...is fast, easy to use etc. Highly recommend. You dont need to use Bluetooth for audio if you put a SIM in the available slot which we do.

So where does one purchase from? A quick search seems to indicate Alibaba as the only current source.
Thanks

A data SIM allows use of app based audio streaming
services eg Spotify, Audible etc.
We use phone for telephone calls and audio quality is excellent. Teyes has all the usual modern Bluetooth audio options and is excellent.
This is not a cheap build quality. The unit is actually designed by a team of Russians and sold on the AliExpress network. It is top quality electronics according to David.

We do a lot of remote travel with no mobile reception. I use Bluetooth to listen to audiobooks & music from my iPhone. Some Android units have problems with dropout & distortion on Bluetooth.

Hi 115hynes, yes I understood that would be the case but I presume you are using apps on your iPhone to use those audio/media
services which if you have an account can be used offline. All you have to do is download these apps to the Teyes via the Playstore and use your same account login to those apps that you're current using and then you can use them via the Teyes without
services and without Bluetooth audio - using the Teyes audio. We have not had any negative experience at all with the Teyes audio
services so have no reason to view your intended use as a negative consideration. And of course, you could still use your iPhone to Bluetooth to the Teyes for audio if preferred. I can only give you our personal experiences and as it is clear with have no affiliation with the reseller or the developer or brand. Just sharing good advice because we think its a great unit - better than anything else on the market and so much cheaper.

So I've found the units on ali express but most are for specific vehicles, none of which I have so can the outside trim be removed from any unit ?
I did find a universal model but when you start reading the guff it says it is for various Volkswagens.
Neither of my vehicles are in the list so do need a generic model that can be fitted to a standard DIN hole in the dash.
Do which model does one purchase?
For some reason google translate only translates the actual listing not all the info re plugs and options so a bit hard to work out what to get.

Kevin I thought that might be the case but wondered if the dash bits that surround the unit when for a specific vehicle were able to be removed restoring it to a standard DIN size with common connections for the wiring.
The universal models seem to be for Volswagens and have vehicle specific wiring connections.
I suspect that a unit for a Landcruiser or Hilux would have standard connections on the rear and if the surround can be removed would work ok in my Oka or the Foton ute.

Hi Michelle,
Can you tell me which Spro you got, was it the 32/2gb or the 64/4gb memory model?
Thanks, Kevin

G'day, looking at videos of this unit, it was stated that to listen to radio it needs an adaptor, is this the case? Also to Michelle, can this unit be used instead of a tablet for offroad mapping? TIA, Cheers.

Yes it's a fully functional tablet with massive storage for your offline maps and SD etc.
Radio could be its downfall in Australia. It doesnt work for us but we dont want to use radio so havent bothered investigating further. None of our vehicles radio work here...we're in a radio blackout area being surrounded by dunes and close to sea level.
