The current seats in our DMax is causing my wife to have a sore back.
Does anyone know of a seat that could replace these seats. I was thinking Colorado might but am seeking some suggestions/advice please.

A mate and his wife had the same problem in their new 79 Series. He solved it with Recaro seats. I've seen them in an ARB super store - they are available in a number of models with different features and adjustments. Only issue is $$$ !!

Howard
Is the seat uncomfortable OR is it's attitude not quite right. Yes the Colorado seats should fit being same floor plan but seat wring may be different plugs 'cos Oldhen uses the cheapest everything. Maybe the squab, the bit you sit on, isn't quite at the optimum angle and adjustment by packing with spacers might be able to be achieved and still retain secure fixing. Did same on Cruiser seats.

Look at Toyota Kluger seats and make them fit.

Howard, how about sculpturing foam to achieve lumbar support and comfortable seat shape then cover it with quality seat covers? Foam suppliers will usually cut foam to your specifications.
We solved our problem that way.

EDIT: In the Aurion, that is.
But in the Troopy we replaced the seats with Stratos LTSS suspension type. Great seats but nearly $5k for the pair fitted.
Cheers

Surprised you had to do that to the aurion seats Allan, mile of adjustment with them. the most comfortable car for long distance travel we have owned. Other issues though.

Cheers Axle.

Well Axle, we had two Camrys before the Aurion and they were very comfortable. I expected the Aurion to be similar but found the ride firm to the point of discomfort. Small road disturbances produced uncomfortable jolts to the body, even the head. Perhaps I was becoming intolerant in my old age, but there it was! I investigated softer tyres, even changes to suspension, but to no avail. Eventually I installed 40mm foam padding to the seats and gained an acceptable improvement. No complaints about the seat adjustability though.
Now don't get me wrong, I love my Aurion. It has great power performance and just the right level of technology for me. The firm suspension provides excellent road handling, but it does not float along like a RR..... or at least how I imagine a RR floats along. There is nothing else in the Aurion that I hold in disfavour and I will keep it until the wheels fall off, but Toyota could have fitted better seats at very little extra cost.

Incidentally, two Camrys and an Aurion over 15 years and absolutely not touched by even a screwdriver other than regular services and tyre & battery replacement.
Cheers

We had inflatable lumbar supports fitted to the front seats of an 80 series wagon we owned for over 10 years. Made a big difference to comfort on long drives.

Some Landcruiser drivers have fitted Falcon XR6 seats to their vehicles. Hurracan(spelling?) make accredited seat mounts for them.

Hi Howard,

After market seats are by far the better option, but they are expensive. If you cannot afford after market seats, then I think the suggestion regarding “resculpting” the seats may be a good compromise.

I have an 18 LSM set up for touring and yes the seats are a bit hard. After lock down is over i am going to get a set of VF GTS seats from Incharge Automotive Enhancements in Melbourne [they work off facebook groups] or there is Proseat in Brissy. They strip your seat and redo it with the other seat foam, all leather what ever color/stitching style color you want $1850 for both seats and no worry about not being legal as they use your own seat frame and air bag.
