I have run out of storage space on my Samsung phone. ExplorOz Traveller app takes up 6.45 GB. Can this app be moved from the phone to the SD card where there is plenty of space? If so, how?

I save all downloaded maps on an SD card. Only the app itself is on my internal storage. The app takes only 335mB.

In the app, go to the home page, select advanced settings>clear data bases.
Then go back to the home page, select download manager>offline map packs>storage location. Here you select your SD card.
Then download all the maps.

Thanks Core420, I was hoping they could be moved as it takes a long time to download.

Hi Chris

Moving the data files to the SD card should be possible using the embedded files app in the Samsung phone.

The following link may be useful. https://www.samsung.com/au/support/mobile-devices/transfer-files-to-sd-card/

However I have no idea how you then configure the EO software to access the map files on the card.

Cheers John

Hi Chris

I just found this on the EO Traveller users guide.

“Map files cannot be moved by swapping out SD cards or transferring files off SD card. Map files can only be downloaded directly to the device using the Data Manager section within the ExplorOz Traveller app.“

This applies to installing maps on multiple devices but is probably relevant to moving files within the same device.

So it looks like my previous advice was likely to be rubbish.

Cheers John

Be aware that the sd cards can be become unreadable over time.
The micro card in my samsung tablet packed it in on our trip 3 weeks ago to Hell Hole and Idalia.
Luckily it was the last day and I know how to get home from Miles.
It is a 32g card about 8 years old.
I tried it in 2 other devices and neither would recognize it.
The tablet will recognize a different card.

There was water in the main holes but the level was down.
There was no water at the creek crossings.
But, we left on Monday and most places out there had up to 50mm on Friday.
Talk to Koz at the Adavale pub. He has all the current info.
We camped 1 night at Hell Hole and a 2nd night at Adavale waterhole.
Hot showers at the town hall.
