The
hill is linked to the
waterhole of the same name a couple of kms to the south.
Robert Austin camped nearby in 1854 and recorded the name as "Dijoin".
John Forrest, in 1869 recorded the name as "Dajoing".
Surveyor HS King, in 1889 came to the nearby sheepyard and
waterhole and called the WH "Datjoin". He put a cairn on the
hill.
This pre-1912 map shows the
waterhole (HK135) and the
hill (HK136)
Datjoin
This pre-1923 map shows the
hill with the name "Dajoing"
Datjoin

Thanks Alan.
There’s always a story behind the names of so many
places and you are the man who usually knows it.
Cheers
