I have a DX Landcruiser and am just about to buy 16x8 wheels for it. Does anyone have an opinion on what size A/T tyres I should put on these wheels and why? 275 or 285 or any other size?
I know I have seen this question asked before but would like some more recent responses if possible, Thanks.

I've got a standard 100 series wagon and I fitted GXL rims and 265/76/16 A/T Coopers. Not a bad tyre they are about 50000km old and are about 1/2 worn. They are quiet on the road, but I don't know about off road as I've been too busy since they were fitted. The majority of that 50000km has been towing a trailer that weighs about 1.2t and I don't baby the car when I drive.

Alan,

Unless you've got a turbo on the DX, then it might be a bit asthmatic with 285's.
265/75R16's might be the go.

We use BFG AT's, mainly because they were on the wagon when we bought it, and they have stood up to some rough work, over past 6 years.

You're likely to get a lot of differing opinions on a subject like this. Buy the 285's, then tell the Missus you need a turbo!

Hooroo...

Seen it all, Done it all.
Can't remember most of it.

Have you considered the legal aspect? You can search past posts - comes up regularly. I think the 285s are generally mentioned as being illegal. Not sure on 275s. Something to do with only being allowed a certain height increase over placard size.

I run 285/75R16 Goodyear MTRs on my STD landcruiser 100 and have not noticed any problem with them, but I put them on the day i got it. It has 25k km on it in the last 8 months with no problems including the flinders and the cape. I am more then happy with the tyres and the size.
