Hi all,
When
John Forrest went across the deserts in 1874 he left his mark as he went.
He blazed trees with his initial, and the number of the
camp from
Geraldton.
Recently, I and others (guess who) went to revisit the trees where he had blazed the numbers 50, 51 and 52.
We started at Mount Moore.
Note that the pole now sticking out of the cairn closely resembles the pole lying next to the cairn in a picture in 1974.
The tree F-50 was down on the flat - I spent an hour looking for it.
We also saw a geological feature:
Slikenside, where two
rock masses slide against one another.
Amazing.

Slikenside
and found a
rockhole:
This RH had not been serviced for a while.

Rockhole
We went along a Mustering Track - straight past F-51 (see vid).
F-52 we had been to before though how Wells and others found this again is really amazing.
I have created
places here:
John Forrest Tree F-50 - WAJohn Forrest Tree F-51 - WAJohn Forrest Tree F-52 - WA
Cheers
Alan

Thanks Alan,
For another excellent and informative video. Didn't the country look amazing from the air, although drier than usual.
I also noted we were wearing jumpers and woolly shirts it was so cold. That changed quickly a few days later when we have late 30s to 40s each day.

You're right about the change of weather Phil.
July weather to December weather in 2 days - think I prefer July :-)
Was a good trip.
