Traveled from Howitt Plains down Zeka Spur Track 18/11/2020 and was concerned to see state of track approx 3km from Howitt Plains turn-off.
A Deviation has recently been cut replacing a steep downslope which is now closed off.
Regrettably, there are several hairpin turns where it was not possible to execute the hairpin in one turn.
I know that the Nissan Patrol does not have the smallest turning circle, but the need to make 3, 4, or 5 cuts to negotiate a narrow hairpin is a surprise.
One of the hairpins has a natural spring bubbling from the centre of the roadway.
The trip was a recce to check out track conditions for later when will be towing a 5metre long trailer.
Consequently, I advise against taking a trailer into Wonnangatta by that route unless you are really experienced at sharp turns and reversing uphill on quite soft soil and hope that there will be no traffic in the opposite direction.
Wonnangatta Road and the East Buffalo River route via Mytrleford is in very good condition and quite smooth.

I would have thought taking trailers/campers down Zeka was a no-no regardless of abilities. Easier ways to go in.

Not all uncommon for campers and trailers to go up or down Zeka Spur in recent years. It was straightforward in January 2019 and 2020. It had been is really a long hard slog but now seems to be impractical.

IMHO Zeka is ( or was) a doddle. Up and down with a trailer.

There are parts that are a bit slippery as they never seem to dry out but the track is (was) not at all difficult.

We run solo and drag a trailer at times. My comments stand for trailers on tracks such as the Zeka and the Simpson for the good of the tracks and so new players do not get the impression that they are all cake walks to do with zero experience.
