Linda you need to provide a lot more information to get a proper answer. I do a bit of bushwalking, up to a week's duration so I have some experience, but there are plenty with more experience than me.
I suspect you should be asking this question on a bushwalking
forum, not here as most members are car campers, not bushwalkers/hikers/trampers which you specifically asked about.
Major consideration is what temperatures you are likely to experience as that will determine the temperature rating of the bag and to some extent the price. How much $ you are prepared to spend.
The Kathmandu website has good information, read that. I'm not saying they make the best bags, but they have good basic information. As mentioned above, One Planet make excellent gear as do Sea to Summit.
I've found Kathmandu and Macpac bags are OK if you buy them on their 60% off sales
If you are multi day bushwalking, then weight is your enemy as is size. Have a think about how big your backpack is, how much room you have left for your bag after food, water, clothing, tent, cooking stove, sleeping mat and a few other things. How much weight can you carry?
For what it's worth over many years I've collected a big, warm 2+kg bag for car camping, a 1.4kg down bag which I have been quite comfortable in at -4 in the open and a 800gram summer weight Down bag. My 1.4kg bag covers all circumstances but I appreciate the lighter bag if I can get away with it.
Provide a few more details and people can offer more targeted answers, but your initial question is as broad as asking "which car is best"?
Enjoy your time outdoors
Mark

I am similar. I try to use the lightest bag I have for the weather (Roman palm bag - very small but not great in cold) and also take a microfibre reactor bag as a liner. I have 2 bags for when it is proper cold. The goose down bag packs down smaller but the synthetic bag will keep warm when it is wet (cold kayak trips). I have mainly Roman and black wolf bags down to -15 rated. As also stated, hiking is very different to car based camping.
