Blog Comment: teyes spro

I was about to purchase the Teyes cc3 but this in the FAQ's regarding having to purchase online software stopped me. It said "You do not have to purchase right away. Upon receipt of the device, an envelope will be enclosed with a description of the conditions for participation in the promotion in order to obtain the right to use this software.
Also, upon receipt, a trial version of TEYES Online for a period of 1 month is already activated on the TEYES CC3 device.
It is recommended to make a decision after receiving the goods"
So I was concerned I would have to buy a sim card plus more software in order to operate it.
Have I got it wrong?

Hello Michael, I first purchased a cc3 teyes and it was junk to use plain language. It did not allow me to upload the programmes I wanted, including ozexplorer traveller app. It was cheap, around $100 but I junked it and purchased a Teyes SPRO unit. It works well, I am still learning all the systems that it has. There are things in the background ala a computer that I am still finding. If you can get it here in Australia, they seem to take more care after the sale. I hope this is of use to you.
Cheers Geoff H.

"ozexplorer traveller"

Geoff,

Are you referring to OziExplorer, a Windows and Android nav program by Des Newman, or ExplorOz Traveller by David and Michelle here at ExplorOz?

Or both, perhaps?

Geoff, I did a search for the Teyes SPRO and found stuff dated 2019 & 2020 but nothing recent. There is no mention of it listed on their home page. Perhaps it was dropped. Are you able to post a link if you can still find one?

Michael as I already have one, I have not searched this item since I purchased mine. I just typed in Teyes SPRO on Google search and it came up. I just did a search now.
www.aliexpress.com they have one for a mitsubishi, but I think the one I purchased was for a toyota car. They do have a dedicated wiring harness for each car, but they have all that stuff replicated so I used the replicated harnesses, and junked the toyota harness. One of the pictures on my original blog has a picture of the different harnessess. It took a while to wire up but it worked and I am happy. The first one I purchased was a cc2 not a cc3. I have no more info for you Michael, I hope you can get what you want.
Cheers

Michael H54, The Spro has been replaced by the Spro Plus. It is not shown on the Australian site, but can still be found on Aliexpress

I've got a 128g TEYES CC3 that I bought from teyes australia www.teyes.com.au

Not sure what the other guy is talking about, the cc3 is 3 generations newer than the spro.

It's fast as hell, it runs my front and rear cameras with recording and is on android 10.

Music is also 10x better than stock kenwood system I had.

Also to answer Michael, I didn't get the subscription. Didn't need it, I think Google can forfill all that tracing work anyway.

Thanks Shane for your reply. So are you saying that in their mystery envelope there is just an invitation to sign up for something, but the device works offline without further purchases. I need to replace the head unit in my NW Pajero with the Rockford sound system and this unit looks to be the goods. BUT I need to be sure I can use the radio, and GPS without having to be online because I won't be installing a sim card. I will be running ExploreOZ Traveller offline on it as well. I haven't had a reply from 2 emails I have sent to Dan at Teyes so thanks again for making the effort.

Shane T9, did you install ExploreOz Traveller and/or Oziexplorer on your CC3?

Hmmm that's odd, did you check your junk mail?

I've seen some online stuff where people have installed this unit on the same model you have with no problems or subscriptions. My gps and everything works, just I hotspot from my phone if the unit needs wifi for anything.

Check this out
https://www.pajeroforum.com.au/forum/vehicles/generation-4-4-pajero/1074447-pajero-smart-head-unit-replacement

In the envelope I can't remember but probably not important.

If no junk mail just try calling the bloke

I have been looking into the Teyes CC3 as well. The 'Teyes Online' software is a tracking service and remote control software (operate your unit from your mobile phone). There is a 1 month free trial included with the purchase of your unit, and if you want to continue it after the month is up you have to pay $17 per year. You don't need it, the unit will operate without it. There is also a voice control software that you pay a once off $60 to activate if you want it.

You don't need a sim card, you can just hot spot from your phone for any functions that need internet connectivity. Basic functions like radio and offline GPS will work without it.

Thanks again Troopy. The more info I can get the better. I still haven't had any reply from Dan at their official Oz email address.

Michael H54, if you are emailing him through his personal email, perhaps it is going to his spam folder. Try contacting him through the 'Contact Us' page on their website, that goes through Shopify then on to his email. That's how I got through, and have had several back and forward emails over the last few days.
