Plenty Highway Accomodation

Nearly 20 years since I last traveled the Plenty. Back then we just tented it beside the road. I am thinking of heading across again to short cut between Brisbane and Alice. But the wife would prefer accommodation all the way. I was wondering if there is accommodation and a feed at any of the Stations now? Thanks for any help.

Haven't done it for a couple of years but stayed a Tobermorey just after it reopened after the floods and they were still sorting things out.
Stayed at the nexy one headed west a few hours down the track, just to see what it was like, so disappointed with it, really run down and lack of interest. So unimpressive I cant even remember the name, not worth the stop.

Now Gemtree is amazing, lots of space, numbers limited so your not packed in and the facilities are excellent.

Try ringing tobermorey and gemtree to see what the accomodation is like now.

Depends what you mean by accommodation. If you mean cabin style I think there is only Gemtree. Check Wikicamps for Jervois and Tobermorey stations and other camp spots.

Thank you both for that. I knew Tobermary might be an option but I had forgotten Gemtree.

Check the Gemtree website for their meal arrangements. IIRC they do them on Wed and Sat, they're great, and licensed bar! Pre-booking the meal necessary.

We also did Tobermorey just after the flood subsided. They had two of the grotty old cabins back in service (just) but were doing a lot of new stuff, so worth a stop. Amenities block and camp kitchen (new) at that stage, not sure if they are - or ever were - into providing meals. They never reinstated their website after the flood, choosing a Facebook presence.

Both have diesel and ULP.

Jervois was only good for a toilet stop.

If you 'click' on the underlined place name it will take you to the 'Place' on this site. eg Tobermorey

We stayed in cabins at Gemtree and Tobermory when we came through there (2017)

There has been a flood since then so best check Tobermory is up and running

We found the distance a comfortable drive with a few photos on the way, Jervois was very basic but did have fuel
