We are planning a trip from Melbourne for all of September, to do the Birdsville, Strzlecki & Oodnadatta Tracks, probably cut across to Ayers Rock, oops soory, Uluru & back through Coober Pedy etc.
We would appreciate any advice, have read the excellent trek notes here, on places to go & things not to be missed.
We will be towing a Track camper trailer, but that shouldn't represent any problems as I believe they are as good as you can get.

Also, is anybody else here going to be in the area at this time? Maybe we could hook up!

Thanks, yes I realise they are quite easy tracks, I am looking for suggestions for some better side trips in the general area, we are not locked in to any particular route or schedule at this stage.

Please don't apologise for calling it "Ayers Rock"; as far as I'm concerned that is (and will always be) it's name. If other groups of people choose to call it something else, then that's their business, I guess.
We'll be starting our trip to Cape York in mid September, heading up the Strez and meeting up with friends from Yass (NSW) at Innaminka, before heading onwards to Longreach, Cairns etc.
Talk to you again b4 you leave, no doubt.

Hope the planning is going well for you.

I was just being facetious, not intending to offend any particular group/s, but it is Ayer's Rock as far I am concerned too.

Certainly hope to speak again & maybe link up somewhere for a chat & a beer.

We are also travelling in September from (Outer South East) Melbourne, with friends. 2 TrakShaks and too (many) kids.

We are leaving Sept 18th heading to Broken Hill then from there who knows!! We havent sat down and planned yet. Happy to get a full itinerary from you and see if we can all hook up.

Cheers

Good to hear from you. In typical Shaker fashion I haven't worked out any itinerary yet. We will be leaving Traralgon on the Ist September, & will spend about 4 weeks looking around the centre. Must keep in touch prior, cos one of us might actually plan ahead!
