Or a little more upmarket . . .
https://www.snowys.com.au/ezywash-washing-machine
I suppose it boils down to how much washing, how often done, willingness to do a little manual work like changing water and hand wringing, plus of course where it's done for either ample water capacity onboard, or access to necessary
water supply (cara pk etc).
I've seen people attach screw lid type drums (like the snowys one) to a bull bar (or anywhere on board might do the job), run it for 1/2 hr driving tracks with detergent, then a couple of rinses to get detergent out.
If after a more modern
home style machine, you need to consider power and water needs firstly I guess.

Hi Peter
We have used with fantastic results an old 10 litre plastic bucket with lid.
Three quarter fill with warm water and add wool wash.
Put your cloths in and leave it in your car and or van as you drive along and do that for a couple of days.
You use wool wash as you do not have to rinse and your cloths will come out perfect. When we were up in the Cape, I had a white T shirt that had quite a lot of red dirt on it, and after 2 days of driving, came out as clean as a washing machine. Had the same results with dirty jeans as
well and very cheap, and knowing it will work.

I went halfway to a washing machine by getting a stand-alone high speed spin dryer. Not much bigger than a 20 litre bucket but needs 230 Volts. Washing is done in a 25 litre dry bag and rinsing in the spin dryer. Clothes come out nearly dry enough to wear immediately, in fact, have put quick dry material garments on straight from the spinner. I store the dry bag used for doing the washing in the spin dryer to save space. The only disadvantage is really the space needed to store and transport the device. The device does save space in one obtuse way; don't need to carry many changes of clothes to always be wearing clean clothes.
On the subject of laundromats, last time in
Bourke, we used the laundry service offered by a sheltered workshop in town. Seriously good job done and in quick time for very reasonable cost.
