Hi, when updating
Places &
Treks the app got stuck on Caching File ...
I closed the app down and restarted it, but the app is still stuck on Caching File...
What can I do to fix it?

Go to Settings. Scroll down to Clear Main DB and tap that. Maps will not be affected. Then do
Places,
Treks Comments and
Track Logs again.

Clearing the main db is helpful for curing several ills. It's possible for your private trek db on a device to be out of sync with the db on the server and/or to have phantom nameless
treks on either or both. You can clear them on the main server db using the app control panel, but you have to clear the main db on the app and reload the cleaned up private
treks from the main EO db. If you don't do this the phantom
treks will keep being resynchronised from the device to the server.

Clearing Main DB . Would be a disaster if you had all your planned trips and waypoints of a planned trip loaded and have no service to reload them. This method of relying on an internet conection to load files for me is one of the few downsides of this app.

But you are unlikely to have any of the problems that require
clearing the main db if you are offline, nor are you likely to create them as you can't create
treks or update anything. I agree it would be useful to have a local store or perhaps cache of both
treks,
places and maps that you could use. Even if you had mobile service you probably wouldn't want to download the maps for example. It would be a very rare thing, but sometimes deleting apps is a way to fix issues or at the very least one of the strategies used in at attempt to fix or diagnose problems.
