Nothing compares to an old Landy, their identity is unique.
Until recently, my 1976 2.25 diesel cab/chassis had been sitting quietly in my back yard for 25 years, its only requirement being to move our van around a bit.
Always started after 30 secs on the glow plug button, obligatory oil leaks, was a 10l./100km. at its highway speed of 90kph and had been 100% reliable over the 41 years I had owned the old girl.
But the time had come, illness means I have to dispose of many treasures so the old Landy had to be one. Was going to advertise, totally unsure of what to ask, whilst all the panels are straight the whole deal is very weathered.
Mate suggested, why not give Ben D a call, see what he thinks.
Yep will come round for a look see this arvo.
Well this bloke knows Land Rovers inside out, I suggested if he brought a battery he could see how
well it starts, but no problem. So before I could start suggesting a starting price he comes up with a $xxxx offer that quite set me back.
Had I known how
well the old girl was going to keep value she would have been in the shed for sure.
Maybe I should have included that my 1997 300tdi Disco is going to stay awhile yet. After all, a bloke still has to get around in some sort of Landy style.
