I wonder how it will really compare to the current twin turbo v8.


The Torque figs look impressive , if it not just a marketing ploy.

if i was to buy a toyota and that is a massive IF . this 300 series on paper looks like a winner . power figures are impressive and about 15% better than the current 200. Lighter, better fuel economy and a modern interior .

For the diehard's they will mourn the loss of the V8 but really i can't see anything bad about the new version, apart from it looking like a bashed crab

I can't see why it should not be a good unit either

It will need to be for the money that will be asked!

The front looks a bit blunt.
I guess a lot of it will be removed for an after market bull bar.

I wasn’t a fan of the 200 or latest generation Hilux when they were released but the look grows on you over time
Hopefully they don’t have too many teething issues, it looks impressive on paper

Will be a bonus if the designers found somewhere more convenient, and accessible, for the starter motor in the V6. An alternator with a bit more altitude would suit the mud running fraternity too.

the designers do not take in to account of whats invloved in repairing them
there aim is to make it easy an cheap to manufacture

Doesn't matter how much Toyota beef it up there will always the cowboys that want a 3" lift and air bags at the rear.
As well as wanting a GVM upgrade.
I just hope for their sake Toyota also beef up the rear diff housing as some had quite a bit of a problem with them distorting and even breaking.

Don’t need to be a cowboy to want/need a GVM upgrade, Noggin.

Bit of bar work, a long range tank & most 200’s were almost on the standard GVM. Makes good sense to up the mark through SSM.
