After all the rain out there, can any one comment on the track conditions across the Desert at the moment?

Keep an eye on this website for Simpson Desert road conditions:

Mt Dare Road Conditions

If in doubt then give them a call.

Judging by all the chatter, and photos, on the FB Simpson Desert pages, you won’t have to worry about wet, or even damp tracks.

Some photos also show that regardless of all the 4WD articles, word of mouth, Facebook pages, ExplorOz & 4x4 Earth, it appears some, maybe many, people think they can drive over the dunes at highway pressures, & comfortably do a standing start on a soft track on a steep dune.

Go for it Keith, you’ll be right!

You've nailed it Bob, you've nailed it !

Apart from that one bit of advice that nearly all young newcomers to 4wdriving use when looking for advice on track conditions ask if their overloaded 4wd with permanently mounted brightly coloured Max Trax will make it !

You know the advice I'm talking about don't you :)

JUST SEND IT MATE ... JUST SEND IT and you'll be fine !!

Happy and Safe travels (with about 18 psi in soft sand )

Cheers

The last Desert Parks Bulletin I've got dated the 2/6 says that the simpson is open but the only western access is via Mt Dare, the Pedirka public access route is closed.
Innamincka and surrounds pretty much everything is closed due to flooding/rain.
Parks don't usually issue another one until there are significant changes.

Having lived at Sunlands Irrigation near Waikerie SA the sand when wet is good to travel on, better than when dry, but... but the low area's between the dunes and the salt pans could be a worry .
