Looking into visiting East Arnhem Land.

Been looking at accommodation options, we'll be in a tent.

Just wondering if anyone else has been there and if they have any suggestions, recommendations etc??

.
Hi Siringo,

There are a number of camping options available in East Arnhem Land.

Within Nhulunbuy town limits I think the only option is at the Walkabout Lodge . It's not a bad spot with the usual amenities plus the benefit of the lodge's bar and dining.

And this site may be useful to you for the wider region.

Google "camping east arnhem land" and a whole lot of info is presented.
It is a great place to visit and reading Stephen L's blogs are worthwhile. The first is here. and the second is here.
Cheers
Allan

Tenting it…you will get into heaps places.
Rainbow Cliffs, little bondi, Macassins, turtle beach, scout camp, memorial park, latrum…
Then head out to Cape Arnhem
You will need permits..dhimuhru sell them online or call in when you first arrive.
Then on the way out…about 350k south of Nhulunbuy..Baniyala Recreation reserve…right on the shores of blue mud bay…its worth the 60k drive in..
Oh…be croc wise…
You are on an adventure…

Been six years since I lived there but little changes. Most important is to get ALL necessary permits from Land councils and corporations. DO NOT take alcohol into any areas out of Nhulunbuy and definitely don't camp somewhere because "my mate says you can go there and stay..it,s alright"! Its a great part of the world and I know all the communities and areas well. Expect high prices and ensure your vehicle is in a well prepared state for off road travel.
