Hi all

Had the injectors done on my TD42 (turboed), the old ones were shagged. Towed the horse float on the weekend which is pretty big, was about 2t ladden. Anyway sat on 90km/h most time - end result over 400km trip - 21.7L/100km. Burning fuel like a petrol!! Changing injectors should have improved the economy I would have thought but its worse. Would they have messed around with the pump when the injectors were changed?? Just wondering what would be next step to sort it out.

Also another question, its an auto gearbox should the box engage 3rd gear when the power/econ switch is on power? It didnt seem to want to would just rev higher and higher in 2nd and not engage 3rd, perhaps the box needs service also? Intend to purchase the manual switch as posted by Truckster recently which will help overcome the prob of the box throwing into o/d when towing and running at too lower revs

Any help would be appreciated...

Are you sure that injectors are the same pressure rating? You didn't go to "uncle jim's dodgy repairs" to save some bucks? If you did, god knows what they have installed, get that checked first!

As far as tranny goes, if your power light is on it wil change geras on higher revs, so if it did't want to change from 2nd to 3rd, maybe, speed/load ratio wasn't right for the 3rd gear, especially if you were towing something heavy like your horse house!

Zapper,
Another thing to ask if the injectors are O.K. is if they played with the pump timing at all.

Did you have the pump done? or reset to match the new injectors?

Start there.

No didn't have pump done, he reckoned he didn't need to adjust it (mobile dude), I spoke to turbotech today and they are going to put a master gauge on it and also put it on Dyno and see what happens. What sort of economy do you reckon it should do pulling that weight? I thought about 15l/100km?
