Hope this doesn't affect the Exploroz revenue stream to much.
If Android apps will be able to be natively played on the new Win11 does this mean we won't have to pay for a Windows edition of Traveller to run on a laptop? Hope this makes sense.

A Windows edition of Traveller will run on a laptop now if the laptop uses a windows operation system. Actually, your question is not making sense to me.

It's probably a reference to these rumors:

Windows 11 will run Android apps

I think the OP wants to run the Android version both in Android and windows without having to buy a licence for each version.

Quite correct Peter. knew what I meant, just couldn't spit it out cogently.

Good question,

I can utilise my Android Apps including mapping on my Windows 10 PC using Samsung DEX program. While it's not really Android running in the Windows Operating System, the Window 11 launch suggests that Android programs will be able to run on/in Windows 11.

not all android apps are able to run on win11 . Microsoft stated in their press release that only amazon apps are able to run in win11 . I am sure that will change at some point

Since the release of the web browser version, the need or market for a Windows app is probably reduced. I suspect most users run the PC version of Explorer for planning rather than navigation. Having a browser version is also a bonus for Mac users.

Thank you Gerard for your concerns regarding this news, which we were aware of. But to ally your concerns, we can confirm that Windows sales of Traveller were so low in comparison to Apple & Android the Windows that the revenue doesn't really factor too much but we have to offer it on this platform for those that wish to travel with Windows tablets - there are plenty for sure. Just not as many as Android/Apple.

But Windows have done themselves such a disservice with their app store - its confusing for most people and complex for us developers too. And what's more their devices don't have built-in GPS and the method to connect your external GPS isn't offered with a microsoft tool - you have to download a third party tool (GPS Complete) - no wonder they have come under pressure to support Android apps.

However, I did note that this was only going to be offered via Amazon accounts - and not sure if that's therefore only going to be offered to US users.... time will tell.

Apparently the Win11 update is free for all Win10 users. We haven't done any testing and not looking at it yet.

Not all machines can be updated, there are both 1) minimium specs and 2) supported processors. For example, my pc now 7 yo, meets 1), it has twice the ram and 3x processor speed, but not 2).

Full list of hardware requirements here.

The stumbling block on my year old budget desktop PC is lack of TPM v2.0.

My slightly younger, more upmarket HP laptop has it and will transition ok.

Download, install and run Microsoft's PC Health Check app for a quick check to see if your system will be compatible.
