Well, the topic says pretty much all, I've tried to measure boost that snail is pumping and I get 0 psi on all revs!Strange. Anyway, does anyone know what is the factory set for the boost on this engine?

Dragan,

I don't know what boost your vehicle should run but the vehicle must be under load to give a boost reading. You must be driving and at different speeds and different gears will give different boost readings. The Cruiser that I own has a max boost of 12psi. All turbos can be adjusted but too high boost and the motor is under a lot of strain.

If its like most Nissans, it's probably about the 6-7psi mark from the factory.

On the subject of turbo boost on diesels - does anyone know if theres anything wrong with winding the boost up a few pounds on diesels? ie should make a little more power/torque due to more air, run a bit cooler due to running leaner on standard fuel/mixture settings? Your not likely to blow an old diesel up by going from say 6 to 10psi are you compression/reliability wise??

Cheers,
Dave.

Dragan , you should have around 4 psi standard . Did you just fit the boost guage ? if so , you have fitted it on the wrong side of the manifold

Wrong side? Ah you mean on the suction side! Nah mate, I've been in to boosting cars a bit, so I can't make that kinda mistake, my downside is the diesel engine, never touched them before. Thanx for the info.

hi dragan,

Is your terrano on auto? If so do you have that that hold/auto/power switch to the left of the steering column and do you know what it does. especially the hold function.

Sorry, can't help you much with the boost question. I do have the TD27T engine manual so maybe I can look it up after work tonight and get back to you tomorrow if I find anything worthy.

TD 27t is a bit of a slug from my experience ,probably under stressed, so maybe U can lift it a few psi & benefit. Seems a big variation in boost numbers in these posts so what is a reasonable limit??? I would like to know as I have adjusted my Triton 2.5 upwards & it goes VERY well, also has a 2.5" exhaust & foam filter
& pump timing turned up a bit from factory.
