forum is going like crazy!!! Would't it be good if it had a chat room where people could just stop by for a quick chat with someone, not asking about problems etc. but just normal chat, that way members would get to know each other much better!

Nooooooo!!.....it's hard enough to get anything done as it is, actualy I do agree, i think it would be very handy, and I bet there'd be some lively discussions

How about that.. I was just thinking that this weekend, when I was bored.Thought it would be good just to have a quick chat with the mob. But being selfish I reckon members only ;-)

Well I mean it would really matter if it was members only or public, same topics would go anyway 4WDriving and all around it. To me it would make any difference.

It has been discussed before.
The issue is bandwidth, and also it takes away from the
forum... people ask questions in a chat that never get asked on the site.. then theres no searching for answers...
Enough people have ICQ/MSN/YAHOO/TRILLIAN nowdays that you dont need it..

Seems like we chat about most anything on the
forum anyway so why start another medium, just stick it up and we will respond on most topics.

Have used a number of chatrooms. If you do not restrict it to members only, and fee paying members at that, not free ones like most chat rooms, then the chat room is open to being hijacked by others with little or no interest in the group and it's activities.
Have seen it happen a couple of times.
Just my 2 cents worth

Members or not, you can always control who is in a chat room, depending on the software, and if theres a mod around at the time..
Was a chat room junkie for yrs, met the wife in a chatroom..

What would be far better is if we could post piccys on screen with replys/questions.
I reckon this sites a goa, BUT it lacks this piccy posting function.
Lots of other forums have it set so one can stick a piccy up if they want and I wonder why ExplorOZ dosn't.......... considering the traffic that comes through.

I second this motion.
The threads we currently have seem to work quite okay, if you don't log on one night, it's waiting for you later.
I agree with Truckster, it has been talked about before, not just here, but on the other forums as well. One even trailed it for a short time, didn't last long.
If we had a chat room, i would never get ANYTHING done!
