Desert Queens Baths access

We are planning a trip to DQB in a week.
Anyone been there in the last few weeks as we are wondering whether both the north and south access roads are open through Rudal River NP. We are planning a Marble Bar to Newman trip.
Would love to hear from anyone who has been through this year.

G'day Theresa

Please don't take this reply as 'gospel' but I am sure there are still restrictions regarding travel/access into or through what is called a remote community, even though the remote community inhabitants are free to roam into regional towns un checked.

Most of the electronic billboards have been shut down or removed, since the easing of Covid-19 restrictions. I will call in to the Newman Visitor Centre, sometime tomorrow and ask 'the' question if you think there's value in that, or you can contact the NVC on (08)91752888.

You can also contact the PARNNGURR Community on 91769009 and try and get an definite 'yes or no' from them as this community has indigenous land rights over the region.

G'day Theresa

I've spoken with the folks at the NVC regarding access to and visitation within the Rudall River national park, there is no access to the entire park, this shut down is due to the Covid-19 situation across the country, I was also told the directive was implemented by the TLO's purely to prevent the virus from spreading to the indigenous communities in the western desert regions.

G'day Theresa

Please feel free to ask if you require current/local information relating to places of interest throughout the inland east Pilbara.

The National Parks website is still showing the park as closed. It’s been that way for ages.

G'day

I am surprised the Nat Parks people/website even have the Rudall River Nat Park listed as it is a totally un manned parcel of land, with zero facilities to maintain, all tracks into the accessible places of note are not maintained, though the Kintyre/Telfer mine road/track which runs from the Talawana track to Telfer is occasionally worked over in places by whatever mining venture is scratching for resources.

Joe, I was a little surprised to find it listed as closed on the NP's website as well. I've seen it closed since March (and it could have been closed much earlier than that, but I just didn't see it). Unfortunately I don't feel things will change in any hurry.
