Defender Snorkel

My Mate has a 1994 Defender TD tabletop and is going to fit a snorkel. On investigation, where the air intake comes to the motor from the front RHS fender there is a "Drop Out" section (T piece) in the piping.. We assume this is to let water out if the kids stick the garden hose in the air inlet through the fender. Now what happens if you fit a snorkel? Do they provide a different fitting to replace this? Obviously the snorkel would be a waste of time as any submersion above the "Drop Out" would allow water to be sucked into the motor.

Would appreciate some info about this, and suggest if there are any Defender owners not aware of this that they stay out of water more than 400mm deep (or less)

Cheers

There're been a few posts on this issue recently. I think you'll find that any correctly fitted snorkels will address this issue by only allowing air in the top.

Cheers
