hi all,
looking for camping spots in n/w NSW or s/w Qld.
Bush camping, even on a station, as long as it's by a river or
waterhole! And preferrably where there might be fish or yabbies!
cheers jj

Hi JJ,
The Boiling Billy book is not bad, but we have found that the book called Camps 2 seems to have more
places in it. The book is more expensive, but you get the money back in camping savings. We tried very hard before we left to find good
places like stations to stay, but that seems to be a problem in that part of the country. However, it is probably worth looking at some maps and phoning the stations where you want to go. Quite often they don't advertise camping, but are willing to let responsible travellers
camp on their property.
Have fun. We are exactly half way through our 6 months of travel today!
Cheers,
Anne

Thanks Anne,
it's just hard to find which stations are open to public -i guess when we get up that way we can ask. One place I rang said to try Comeroo or
Trilby -so might give them a ring.
Where are you travelling at the moment? Would love to be away for twelve months!!!
Cheers Nari

Hi Nari,
You're not wrong, its very hard to find the ones that are open to the public, which is why I suggested looking on a map and giving them a call. You'll probably find the phone numbers on the White pages internet site. Some of the properties don't particularly want to make a commitment to tourism, but don't mind occasional visitors.
We are presently on
Wogarno Station near Mt Magnet in W.A.. It is fantastic here, and we are moving on to other stations all the way up to
Broome! From there its on to the
Gibb River road and then wind our way back to
Adelaide via the
Birdsville Races!!
Happy travelling
Anne

Hi Anne,
we were planning on going to the
Kimberley next year but will probably go in 2006 now as our daughter is getting married next year now!
We will probably travel for around 8 weeks. We have already travelled thro the rest of WA, so will just go up thro the middle and across the Tanami. We really loved WA, especially the Hammersleys.
Are you from
Adelaide? We live an hour south.
Enjoy your holiday!
Nari

Noccundra, across the road from the pub (about 1 km from pub.) On the
Wilson River. Plenty of yabbies/yellowbelly to be caught as
well. So they tell me, all I got was one tortoise.
