Did it a couple of years ago - all dirt. Like any other dirt, the condition varies with the traffic etc. Some sand some rocks.
cheers

Travelled from Innamincka north, through Arrabury, across onto the Diamantina in early Nov, 2015. Generally good gravel road, that winds it’s way along some of the higher country, up to Windorah-Birdsville road. Only bitumen then was a couple of kms up over the jump up on the Saint Ann Range. Highly unlikely it will ever be fully bitumen, I’d suggest.

Hi

Here's a video of that same trip we did a couple of years back but in reverse.
Might give you an idea of what to expect although road conditions do change
Hope this helps

Hi kerbarb9. I travelled this road from Birdsville to the NSW/Qld border a couple of weeks ago on my way to Victoria. So I didn't do the last bit into Innamincka but I think it is largely bitumen now anyway. The bitumen begins at the turnoff to the Dig Tree. Sadly the Dig Tree should now be renamed the Sign Tree given the ridiculous amount of infrastructure there. Anyway I digress. We towed the camper trailer and it is in fine condition albeit a bit stony particularly in the southern reaches. Take the time to detour to Hadden Corner too. There is a good flat area for camping but take your own firewood there if you plan to stay.
